How to Convert Megawatts to Kilowatts.

Rosemary Njeri

Both kilowatts (kW) and MW are units of power.

While a kilowatt represents 1000 watts, megawatts represent 1,000,000 watts.

Formula to convert MW to kW.

To convert MW to kW, we need to know how they are related first.

Their relationship is that 1 megawatt is equivalent to 1000 kilowatts.

Therefore, to convert MW to kW, we multiply the MW value by 1,000.

Power in kW = Power in MW x 1000

Example:

Convert 5 megawatts to kilowatts.

= 5 x 1,000

= 5,000 kilowatts.
