How to Convert Cubic Meters to Cubic Centimeters.

Rosemary Njeri

Cubic meters and cubic centimeters are both measures of volume.

Volume in meters is abbreviated as m³ (meters cubed) while volume in centimeters is abbreviated as cm³ (centimeters cubed).

Formula to convert m³ to cm³.

Formula to Convert Cubic Meters to Cubic Centimeters.

First you need to know the relationship between meters and centimeters which is;

1meter = 100 centimeters

Cubed units means that you multiplied the unit by itself and then by itself again that is;

Cubic Unit = Unit x Unit x Unit

Therefore, to get the conversion rate of m3 to centimeters we multiply the conversion rate of meters into centimeters which is 100 by itself and then by itself again. That is;

1 Cubic Meter = 100cm x 100cm x 100cm

1 Cubic Meter = 1,000,000 Cubic Centimeters which can also be written as

1m³ = 1,000,000cm³

In conclusion we can say that, to convert m3 to cm3, we multiply the cubic meters by 1,000,000.

Example 1:

Convert 20m³ to centimeters cubic.

Since; 1m³ = 1,000,000cm³

= 20m³ x 1,000,0000cm³

= 20,000,000cm³

Example 2:

Suppose a 6000m3 tank is full of water, calculate the volume of the tank in centimeters cubed.

1m³ is equivalent to 1,000,000cm³ therefore,

= 6,000 x 1,000,000

= 6,000,000,000 cm3
