How to Convert Pints to Cups.

Rosemary Njeri

What are Pt and C?

In this article, we will learn how to convert pints(pt) to cups(c or C). Before that, lets define them. Pints and cups are two customary units of volume, most popular in the US, UK, and Ireland. They are widespread when we talk about food and drinks.

A pint(pt) is a unit of liquid or dry capacity equal to one eighth of a gallon. While a cup(c) is also a unit of volume equal to 16 tablespoons. A US cup is about 237 ml.

Formula to Convert Pints to Cups.

To convert a pt to c we need to be conversant with the conversion ratio which we get from how they relate.

We say that 1 US liquid pint is equivalent to 2 US cups.

Therefore, to convert pt to c, we multiply the pt value by 2.

Volume in c = Volume in pt x 2

Example 1:

Convert 200 US liquid pt to US cups.

= 200 x 2

= 400 Us cups.

Example 2.

Suppose you have 5.5 pints of water, convert it to cups.

Volume in c = Volume in pt x 2

= 5.5 x 2

= 11 C of water
