How to Convert Liters to Cubic Centimeters.

Rosemary Njeri

In this article we learn how to convert liters to cubic centimeters but before that, let us define a liter. A liter is an SI accepted unit for volume for use with the metric system. A liter is sometimes also referred to as a litre. Liters can be abbreviated as l, and are also sometimes abbreviated as L.

Cubic centimeter is an SI derived unit of volume based on the cubic meter is abbreviated as cm³ or sometimes it can be abbreviated as cu cm, cc, or ccm.

Formula to Convert Liters to Cubic Centimeters .

The relationship between liters and cubic centimeters states that:

1 liter is equivalent to 1000 cm³ .

It can also be written as,

1liter = 1000 cm³

In conclusion, we can say that to convert liters to cm³ , we multiply the liters by 1000 cm³.

Example 1:

Convert 2 liters to cm³.

= 2 x 1000

= 2,000 cm³

Example 2:

Mike poured 5 liters of milk into a mixing. How many cubic centimeters of milk did he pour.

Since 1L = 1000cm3 therefore,

= 5 x 1000

= 5,000 cm3

Example 3.

There are 1,500 liters of water in rectangular shaped aquarium. Find the capacity of the aquarium in cubic centimeters.

We know that 1 liter is equivalent to 1000cm3 therefore,

= 1,500 x 1000

Hence, the volume of the aquarium is 1,500,000 cm3
