Since the rafter, the rise/height and the run of a roof form a triangle, we can use the Pythagorean theorem to find the roof pitch height provided your given the length of the rafter and the length of the run.
Example:
Suppose your given the length of the rafter as 10 feet and the run from the center of the roof to one of sides is 6 feet, calculate the roof pitch height.
Therefore, the roof pitch height is 8 feet.
