How to Convert Watts to Kilowatts.

Rosemary Njeri

Watt is the SI unit of power, equivalent to one joule per second, corresponding to the rate of consumption of energy in an electric circuit where the potential difference is one volt and the current one ampere.

While kilowatt is a measure of one thousand watts of electrical power.

Formula to convert W to kW.

Since we know that 1 kilowatt is equivalent to the measure of 1000 watts.

Therefore, to convert W to kW, we divide the W value by 1000.

Power in kW = Power in W ÷ 1000

Example:

Convert 900 watts to kilowatts.

= 900 ÷ 1000

= 0.9 kW.
