How to Convert Hectares to Meters Squared.

Rosemary Njeri

Hectares(ha) are non-SI metric unit of area equal to a square with 100 meter sides and is mostly used in the measurement of land.

Meter squared is also a unit of area and is abbreviated as m².

Formula to convert ha to m² .

Since we have been told that one hectare is equivalent to the area of a square whose side is 100m.

Therefore, to know the relationship between one hectare and meters squared, we find the area of the square.

Area = Side x Side

= 100 x 100

= 10,000

From this we can conclude that the 1 ha is equivalent to 10,000 m².

In conclusion, we can say that, when you want to convert hectares to meters squared you multiply the hectares by 10,000m² .

Example:

Convert 2.5 hectares to square meters.

= 2.5 x 10,000

= 25,000 m² .
