How to Calculate Weighted Grades.

Rosemary Njeri

Weighted grades are used in college, university and even high school courses by educators in order to determine how tests, assignments, projects and other factors should count towards the final grade.

Formula to calculate weighted grades.

    null
  • Determine the weight of each data point.
  • Multiply the weight by each value.
  • Add the results of step two together.

Example:

Suppose the assignments accounts for 10% of your final grades while the CAT is 30% and your final exam is 60%. If you score 76% in your assignments, 80% in your CAT and 78% in your final exam, calculate your weighted grades.

Assignments;

= 10 x 0.76

= 7.6%

CAT;

= 30 x 0.80

= 24%

Final Exam;

= 60 x 0.78

= 46.8%

Therefore, your final grade is;

= 7.6% + 24% + 46.8%

= 78.4%.
